Help us Build and Support
La Escuela Bilingue los Algarrobos.
Canoa is a small fishing village on the northern coast of Ecuador. Because many of its families live on less than $250 per month, education has not always been an option for the children.
A little money goes a long way.
An entire classroom can built for $10,000.
For only $100 per month, a child's tuition can be paid.
The parents asked for our help in making this school a reality, and we are now asking you to help us.
Your contributions are fully tax-deductable.

Volunteers – making a difference everyday

PLEASE JOIN US ASĀ INTERN TEACHERS
We are always accepting applications forĀ interns to teach English as a second language to K-6 grades. The volunteer would ideally have experience in early childhood education. These positions come with a small salary of $295 per month. Therefore, the volunteer must have the financial means to pay their own living expenses. Basic living costs run about $500 a month. The school will assist in obtaining lodging and visas if necessary. This is a very pleasant beachside town, but it is a third world location. This is a working position. The school day runs from 7:30 to 12:30, five days a week, and the volunteer is expected to teach classes during this this period. Contact: information@jamesdeanbyrdfoundation.org
AS NON-TEACHERS
We have programs for volunteers who are just in Canoa for a short period of time. These programs range from classroom assistance to light construction and landscaping and other environmental projects on the school grounds. Contact: information@jamesdeanbyrdfoundation.orgAS ECO SURF VOLUNTEERS
We are also affiliated with ECO SURF VOLUNTEERS. They offer the opportunity to learn to surf and volunteer at the school at the same time in one package. For more information, visit their webpage at www.ecosurfvolunteers.com or contact them at info@echosurfvolunteers.com.
