Help us Build and Support
La Escuela Bilingue los Algarrobos.
Canoa is a small fishing village on the northern coast of Ecuador. Because many of its families live on less than $250 per month, education has not always been an option for the children.
A little money goes a long way.
An entire classroom can built for $10,000.
For only $100 per month, a child's tuition can be paid.
The parents asked for our help in making this school a reality, and we are now asking you to help us.
Your contributions are fully tax-deductable.

Health & Environmental Awareness

Students in the school receive breakfast and a snack of fresh fruit at recess. All students are given a health exam by medical personnel at the beginning of each school year and shots, if needed and available, are given. The children are taught basic health and hygiene. Things as simple as when and how to wash their hands are things they need to be taught.

Teaching environmental awareness by example, the school has been constructed using renewable materials, such as reeds, bamboo and thatch whenever possible.

The septic system is a German design that uses a containment area of local, live reeds to do the final filtering of the water. Volunteers have helped the children create a garden, seedling beds and a compost pit. At the beginning of each school year, the students plant and then tend to the gardens throughout the year.

Trips to the beach help the children understand that litter harms their environment and of the need for better disposal options for their community.
